What the course covers

Passed your test but still nervous about motorways, country lanes or driving after dark? Pass Plus is the DVSA’s official post-test course for newly qualified drivers, and Issy teaches it one-to-one in Leamington Spa, Warwick and the surrounding Warwickshire area. You learn in his fully electric automatic Hyundai Kona and are picked up from home, school or work.

Under the official scheme rules, the course takes at least 6 hours and is made up of six modules:

  • driving in town
  • driving in all weathers
  • rural roads
  • driving at night
  • dual carriageways
  • motorways

Each module should be practical where possible, although the time of year can mean some are covered in theory – you won’t get much snow practice in July! The 6-hour Pass Plus package on our price list includes motorway, dual carriageway, town, all-weather, night and rural driving.

Is there a test at the end?

No. There is no exam at the end. Issy assesses you throughout and completes a training report as you go, and you need to reach the required standard in every module. Once you have finished, you claim your certificate through the official scheme.

Who it's for and how it works with Issy

Anyone who has passed their practical driving test can take the course, but it helps newly qualified drivers most – for example if you:

  • have just passed and want help with faster roads before driving alone
  • passed some time ago but avoid motorways, dual carriageways or night driving
  • are new to Warwickshire’s rural roads and the busier routes between towns
  • feel nervous on your own after the test and want the same patient, confidence-first approach you had as a learner

How it works:

  1. Check your area. Enter your postcode on the Book Lesson page, or call +44 7812 390153.
  2. Agree a pick-up point. You are collected from a suitable place such as home, school or work.
  3. Plan the sessions. Issy plans them around the six modules and the situations where you feel least confident, so the time goes on what you actually find hard.
  4. Drive and get feedback. Lessons are one-to-one and paced to you. Evening and weekend lessons are available.

All tuition is in an automatic car. Drive With Issy is a mobile driving school: the business address in Leamington Spa is not a training centre, so lessons start from wherever suits you within the area covered.

Can it lower my car insurance?

Possibly. Some insurers offer a discount to drivers who have completed the course, but not all do and the amount varies, so check with your insurer before you book. You may be asked for your certificate, so make sure you claim it once you have finished.

Price, booking and why learners choose Issy

For the current price, see our price list, and you can book a lesson online.

Issy (Ismail Qureshi) is a fully qualified approved driving instructor who trained with BSM, part of the AA Group. He has been instructing since 2021, went independent in 2024 and has taught 500+ learners. Drive With Issy is 5-star Google rated and Motability approved. One learner wrote: “Issy is a great instructor. He explained everything very patiently and learning with him was very easy.” – Adina Joita, Google review. Read more about Issy or see our FAQs.

Can I take Pass Plus in an automatic car?

Yes. Every lesson with Issy is in a fully electric automatic Hyundai Kona, so the whole course is taught in an automatic.

How long does it take?

The official scheme sets a minimum of 6 hours, and the package on our price list is 6 hours. The sessions can be spread out to suit you, including evenings and weekends.

Will it definitely cut my insurance?

No one can promise that. Some insurers give a discount for the certificate and some do not, so ask your insurer first.

Do you cover my area?

Issy teaches across Leamington Spa, Warwick and nearby parts of Warwickshire. Enter your postcode on the Book Lesson page to confirm. For local details, see the course in Warwick or Leamington Spa.

I passed a long time ago. Is Pass Plus or a refresher better for me?

If you want to work through the six official modules and get a certificate, Pass Plus fits. If you mainly want to rebuild confidence after a long break, refresher lessons focus on the roads and situations you want to practise. Issy can talk you through which suits you.
