By the time the Warwick test centre routes come into it, none of it is new.
The reason for that order is that each stage only adds one new demand. Adding a busier road and a new manoeuvre in the same lesson is how beginners lose confidence, and confidence is the thing that determines how many hours the whole process takes.

Six stages, each adding a single new demand. Nothing moves on until the previous stage is comfortable.
The estate roads around Windy Arbour, Forrest Road and Manor Road. Wide enough, slow enough and empty enough at the right time of day to get moving off, stopping and steering right.
Park Road, Albion Street and Tainters Hill. Parked cars both sides, junctions close together, pedestrians. This is where observation starts being real rather than theoretical.
Abbey End and Smalley Place on the B4103 one-way. Lane choice, signage and a lot of decisions in a short space.
Warwick Road and Bridge Street on the A452, then Coventry Road and New Street on the A429. Higher speeds, lane discipline, junction planning.
Rouncil Lane and Birches Lane. Single track, bends, limited visibility and passing places. The stage beginners are least prepared for and the one that most often produces a test fault.

The current practical test asks for one manoeuvre from a set of four, plus a possible emergency stop. Each gets practised somewhere with room to get it wrong safely before it is attempted anywhere tight.

Somewhere quiet and residential, typically the estate roads off Windy Arbour or Forrest Road. Lesson one covers the cockpit drill, moving off and stopping, and nothing else. You will not be put onto Warwick Road in your first hour.
A valid provisional licence, and glasses or lenses if you need them to read a number plate at 20 metres. The minimum age is 17, or 16 if you receive the enhanced rate of the mobility component of PIP. You do not need to have passed the theory test first.
DVSA guidance is around 45 hours of professional tuition plus roughly 20 hours of private practice for a typical learner. Some need less and plenty need more. No test will be recommended until you are driving at the standard, and no pass is guaranteed.
It depends what you need. An automatic licence does not let you drive a manual, so factor that in. What it does do is remove clutch control and gear changing from the first twenty hours, so those hours go on observation, road position and junctions instead of stalling.
